Tips for Buying Your First Drum Set

Configuring your first drum set is no small or
easy task – here are some important things that you need to know and do:

  • -Find out as much as you can
    about standard drum set configurations – a complete drum set consists of the
    following pieces: a hi-hat cymbal, a crash cymbal, a snare drum, two tom-tom
    drums, a floor tom, a ride cymbal, a floor tom and a bass drum, each complete
    with stands and pedal for the bass drum;
  • -The material of the actual
    drums – the snare, the bass and the toms are the actual drums in a set. They
    are all available made from different materials, the most common materials
    being mahogany, birch, maple and poplar. For beginners, maple is probably the
    best choice, resistant and versatile, safe and excellent for learning;
  • -Drum sizes – as a general
    rule, the larger the drum, the deeper the sound and the easier it is to play,
    but you need to choose the size of your set based on your body height and on
    the length of your arms and legs. The best way to find the best fit is to go to
    a musical instrument shop, try out several configurations and then pick the one
    that you find the most comfortable.
