Are you thinking of testing your
skill and talent as a street musician, busking in a busy main street, but you
have no idea how and where to start? Here are some tips for you:
- -Get a license – running
away from the cops because you have been playing without a license is not great
fun at all and it might also cost you a lot, so get a license before you even
start looking for a place to play at; - -Look for organized
events – town halls, city councils and non-profit organizations often host
busking events for charitable causes. The events might not bring you too much
money, but they are great for networking and for making new friends; - -Put together a varied
repertoire – playing the same 5 or 10 songs over and over again is boring for
you as well as for your audience, so try to diversify your repertoire and to
add new songs all the time; - -Don’t be afraid to
improvise – improvisation might be one of the most difficult things to do for a
musician, but it is an excellent way to experiment and to own the songs that
you play, so it is a good idea to try it.
